About me

My Vision

If we can work out how to communicate and talk to one another in a ‘better’ way, it will be easier for each and every one of us, and we will all benefit from it. There are so many misunderstandings that could be avoided. This will make our lives easier. My philosophy, in a nutshell:
The world is a better place when people think and speak ‘well’!

My Story

My current doctoral dissertation focuses on the topic of “Language and Ethics.” In this sense, my blog is part of ethical communication and, as such, is also committed to it.

Basically, I’m a pretty down-to-earth thinker. I love learning and have never seen any conflict between the natural sciences and the humanities. That’s probably due to my “background.” My first degree was in dentistry. I earned my Ph.D. in microbiology because I’m curious and really wanted to get a glimpse into the world of research. Then came a long period of working a regular job before, after a break, I was drawn back to the university. There, I earned a bachelor's degree in media studies, followed by a master's degree in philosophy and history.

This experience of both worlds—the natural sciences and the humanities—is the source of my very personal perspective. It has led to a certain “groundedness” in my philosophical thinking. I like it when it can be put to good use. That is why I am particularly fond of practical philosophy, which focuses on the acting individual in his or her pursuit of a “good life.” And for me, speaking is a form of action.
